Understanding what Google Alerts are

A Google Alert is a notification that pops up on your mobile device, desktop or e-mail when there’s new information about a topic you’ve been following. You can set an alert for just about anything, from news stories, blog posts, and even tweets, so you’ll be the first to know when something new is published. These alerts are ideal for people who want to stay up-to-date with what’s happening in their industry without spending hours each day reading articles and blogs.

Why should you turn on alerts?

If you are interested in the most up-to-date information and news and want the ability to follow what’s hot in your industry, Google Alerts are a great solution. In many professions, this is especially important, for instance when tracking your competitors’ actions. When you are analyzing a marketing strategy or plan, it can be helpful to get the perspective of the entrepreneur and client. They can also be useful for giving your own opinions about you a boost. Even so, your first notification should appear within 24 hours of successful registration and implementation of the relevant words or phrases.

How to set up an Google Alerts step by step

Log in or create an email account on Gmail, if you don’t have one yet. Then go to www.google.pl/alerts. Choose the sections that interest you or create your own tabs. Choose the right keywords that describe the topic you are interested in. Specify any parameters: notification frequency, language, number of results, domains, etc. Then select “Create alert”.

Tip: Make sure messages from alerts do not end up in the spam folder in your inbox. Additionally, you can also select words that you want to exclude from your entire search by using the “-” sign.

To edit an alert, just click “Edit” next to the selected phrase, and then enter the “Show options” section. There you will find the option to “Update the alert”. Removing is much easier – you just need to click “Remove” or “Unsubscribe” next to the alert at the bottom of the alert email.

The main goal is to automatically monitor the behavior of our customers when they are shopping online. Your website traffic and conversion rates can quickly be affected by crisis situations when you use them.
