How to get your website noticed? Google Indexing and SEO
Category SEO

A lot of people want to rank highly in Google search results, but few understand exactly how it works. Google’s algorithm takes into account many different factors, including things like how often your website is updated, the number of incoming links you have, and even the authority of the website linking to you. If you want to rank well in Google search results, you need to master SEO. Here are some basics to help you start properly.

What is search engine optimization?

SEO is the process of optimizing a website for Google search with the goal of earning higher web traffic levels and improving the visibility of the site. It is often broken down into two categories: on-page elements, which focuses on things like optimization titles, meta descriptions, and keywords in content, and off-page elements, which includes building links from other sites pointing back to your site.

Why do you need it?

Positioning is currently the most important tool to gain an advantage on the web. It doesn’t matter if you run a private blog, company website or online store. The right optimization strategy will allow you to:

  • higher ranking position,
  • increasing the number of visitors to the website (and thus reaching a larger number of potential customers),
  • development and increase of profits,
  • recognition and authority,
  • gaining an advantage over the competition,
  • geographic targeting,
  • monitoring the effects.

Google Index

Google is the most popular search engine, handling over 3.5 billion searches per day. If you want people to find your website, you need to make sure it’s properly indexed by Google. Indexing consists in creating and maintaining elements that shorten the time of access to data. During it, information about the content, keywords and phrases, external and internal links, multimedia in the search engine’s database is collected. The indexing process can be done in two ways:

  • automatically – search engine robots search available resources in search of new pages (or their updates), scan them and, based on an algorithm, create an index;
  • manually – you can also add a page to the Google index yourself.

How many URLs are in the Google Index?

To be honest? Billions. They occupy over 100,000,000 gigabytes. Google is constantly improving its algorithms, so it is necessary to track them in the context of positioning. And it means that there’s a lot of competition out there for attention from the all-powerful Google search engine. So how can you make sure your website gets noticed? By optimizing your site for SEO.

How long does it take?

It can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks for Google to index your website. The amount of time it takes for your website to show up in search results depends on many factors, including how well you optimize your site for SEO.

Mobile-first Index

A mobile-first index means that Google will index your website based on its mobile version first. It means that search engine will prioritize websites that are optimized for mobile devices over those that are not. This is because more and more people are using their phones and tablets to search the internet. This is why it’s important to have a responsive design that looks good on all devices. Plus, make sure your website loads quickly on mobile devices since people are often in a hurry.

What is the crawl budget? Should I care?

Crawl budget is the number of pages Googlebot can and wants to crawl on your website during a given time period. You should care about your crawl budget because it can affect your website. If Googlebot doesn’t crawl your pages, then your website won’t be indexed and you won’t get any organic traffic. There are a few ways to improve your crawl budget, such as optimizing your website for speed and improving your internal linking structure.

Methods of indexing pages on Google

There are a few methods of indexing pages on Google. The first is through sitemaps, which is a file that tells Google about all the pages on your website and how often they’re updated. The second method is through internal linking, which is when you link to other pages on your website from within your own content. The third method is through backlinks, which are links from other websites that point to your website.

There are several ways to get more interest from web robots. For this purpose, configure a robots.txt file for Google – with its help, we create commands indicating which addresses can be visited and which should be blocked. Most of them are websites that are under development or are characterized by low-quality content.

Another way is to configure from the Google Search Console panel. From the website admin panel, you can submit requests for re-indexing of addresses or limit their frequency. You can then submit a sitemap that tells you that your pages and subpages are ready for indexing. Thanks to the map, robots can see newly added subpages and selected updates.

How to check the indexing status of a page?

You can check the indexing status of a page by using the Google Search Console. Also, you can use the Google Search Console to find out if there are any errors on your website that are preventing Google from indexing your pages correctly.

Summary

If you want your website to be noticed by Google, you need to make sure it’s properly indexed. That means understanding how Google’s algorithms work and how to optimize your website for them. SEO can be complex and time-consuming. However, it’s essential for getting your website noticed by potential readers and customers.
